Invisible dental teeth brackets tooth plastic bracesThe thought of wearing awkward, uncomfortable braces is unpleasant to most adults. After all, braces are for middle school kids. You’re an adult with work presentations and business meetings. The idea of smiling or laughing with friends while wearing braces is not appealing. Though we all want straight teeth, wearing braces can easily make us both figuratively and literally uncomfortable.

If you have this fear, you’re not alone. The good news is that there is now an alternative that will spare you the embarrassment and irritation of braces. It is called Invisalign.

What is Invisalign?

Chances are, you have probably heard of Invisalign. For a refresher, Invisalign is a pair of clear plastic trays that fit snuggly over your teeth. Since they are made of clear, smooth plastic, they are not readily noticeable when you wear them. They straighten your teeth the same way braces do, but without the pain, embarrassment and inconvenience of braces.

How Does Invisalign Work?

You may know what Invisalign is, but are less likely to know how it works. How can two pieces of plastic straighten your teeth? Invisalign gently and gradually moves your teeth into position as you go through the treatment. Every two weeks you’ll be fitted with a new, slightly altered pair of Invisalign trays. Though the length of treatment is different for each patient, it takes on average one year of Invisalign treatment to get the teeth into proper alignment. For more detailed information about how Invisalign works, you can check out the Invisailgn website.

Invisalign Treatment Steps

The first step in your Invisalign treatment is to set up an appointment with us at Dr. Brian Britton Dentistry. At this appointment x-rays and molds will be taken of your teeth to establish a starting point for treatment. Based on the alignment condition of your teeth, we’ll discuss with you a treatment plan and a timeline for completion. During this appointment, we’d be happy to answer any questions you may have such as costs and insurance coverage.

You will be fitted with a custom made Invisalign set that will be made based on the mold of your teeth. You’ll come in every two weeks to get reassessed and fitted with a new pair of Invisalign trays. Each new set of trays will be slightly different and will progressively and gradually make our teeth straighter.

When your treatment is done, you’ll have a beautiful, straight smile you can be proud of and confident to show off. At your final appointment, we’ll go over with you whether or not retainers will be needed to keep your teeth in their proper alignment.

At Dr. Brian Britton, we care about your smile and want you to not be afraid to put your best smile forward. We know that a great smile is a source of confidence, self-esteem and great first impressions. We provide a variety of restorative and cosmetic dental services to compliment and bring out your straightened smile.
